5 Rumored Star Wars Series Coming To Disney+
Here are the series rumored to arrive on Disney's Streaming Service set in the galaxy far, far away!
Star Wars Streaming Series On Disney Plus!
It was announced recently that Disney is creating it's own streaming service to rival that of Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon. It's called DisneyPlus and will feature all of Disney's film and television library as well as brand-new series and movies available exclusively on their digital platform. So far we know we're getting two series set in the Star Wars galaxy. The first is The Mandalorian which just wrapped filming and will debut with the service in late 2019 following the exploits of a lone gunslinger in the far reaches of the galaxy during the rise of the New Republic after the fall of the Galactic Empire. The other show will follow Rebel spy Cassian Andor, with Diego Luna reprising his role, before the events of Rogue One.
1. Obi-Wan Kenobi
This series could fill in the gaps between Episode II and Episode IV as we find former Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi as he watches over a young Luke Skywalker and protects him from the dangers of the hostile desert world of Tatooine. The Star Wars comic books have shown us how exciting and interesting this can be as he fends off bounty hunters, sand people, and other sinister forces while learning more about the ways of the Force. It'd be cool to shoot it like a western and feature Old Ben as a gunfighter like Shane or the Man with No Name as he defend the downtrodden on a planet controlled by the Hutt gangsters. Getting someone like 3:10 to Yuma and Logan director James Mangold as showrunner would be a perfect fit for this show.
2. Young Princess Leia
Following the adventures of a young Princess Leia on her homeworld of Alderaan as she travels the galaxy on diplomatic mission would be tons of fun and could cater to a younger audience. Casting this part would be difficult, but fans already want Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown in the role and she could do a great job as galactic royalty as we see her develop into the rebel hero we find in Episode IV. It'd be awesome to see Jimmy Smitts back as Bail Organa too and follow the formation of the Rebellion during the rule of the Galactic Empire under Emperor Palpatine who could show up as a special guest star played by actor Ian McDiarmid.
3. Knights of Ren
We know very little about the Knights of Ren which means they are ripe for their own streaming series. Exploring who they are and how they came to be would be thrilling for fans of the sequel trilogy. Casting would be wide open since we haven't seen their faces and each of their backstories would be rich territory to dive into. Getting surprise appearances from Adam Driver as Kylo Ren (who's described as the "Master of the Knights of Ren" in the films) would be the icing on the cake.
4. Captain Phasma
The mysterious Captain Phasma got her own book recently and fans of the that novel seem to want more. Discovering more about her history and role in the First Order would be interesting to watch. Seeing her get into the action more would satisfy fans who were let down with her roles in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie would certainly be game to play the role again as she clearly had a blast working on the films.
5. Darth Bane
A hugely important character in the legends of the Sith, Darth Bane would be a fascinating character to showcase in a dark and sinister series. This show could pull back the curtain on the Dark Side of the Force. Here we'd find how the Rule of Two was put into place and it could be a jmping off point into series about other infamous Sith like Darth Plageuis and even his apprentice Darth Sidious himself.
