Best Movie Reboots Of All Time
These are our picks for best movies that rebooted a franchise!
Gareth Edwards took on the King of the Monsters in 2014 after his indie film Monsters managed to scare while focusing on the characters. He did the same thing here by centering the story on a family in the midst of the giant monster battles. The creatures design is great and there's plenty of great action here too. It's a well-paced movie with an emotionally driven story. Bringing it all to the present day while using the original films as a jumping off point is brilliant. It's got excellent special effects as well which bring Gorjira to life better than ever before. This one also set up the MonsterVerse which now includes King Kong and many more monsters to come in the sequel scheduled for release in 2019.
8. The Incredible Hulk
Superheroes get more reboots than any other characters. This makes sense since they can be reinterpreted for modern audiences all the time which is exactly what the comics books did. One of the most popular characters in all of comics is Hulk. He had his own television series for many years, has been featured in animation, and of course movies. The best thing about 2008's The Incredible Hulk from director Louis Leterrier is that it take inspiration from the TV series and the comics while setting it in the present and not holding back the action fans want. Edward Norton is genius Bruce Banner and Liv Tyler is perfect for her role of Betty as well. William Hurt also plays General Ross brilliantly and Tim Roth is great as Emil Blonsky. While 2003's Hulk from director Ang Lee failed on so many levels this one succeeded in everything. It is the most underrated Marvel movie ever made.
