Ranking Christopher Nolan Movies
Since his new movie Dunkirk opens this weekend, we ranked all of director Chris Nolan's movies!
This is movie follows an LAPD detective on the hunt for a killer in Alaska. It's a psychological drama executed flawlessly by the famed director. Nolan manages to give us Al Pacino's best performance since Glengary Glen Ross here and brings out something we've never seen before in the late Robin Williams. It's those performances along with the great Hilary Swank that set this movie apart. This one can also drag on a bit in some spots, but every scene still manages to develop the characters and shows us that the lack of sleep is slowing driving Pacino's character insane. It's an excellent whodunit story with some big twists along the way.
By far his most complex and out-there idea, Interstellar is Christopher Nolan's most ambitious project to date. For some it worked and for others it didn't, but you can't deny the visual splendor of this film. It's so creative and unique you can't help but stay glued to the screen for the entire (extremely long) runtime. Matthew McConaughey gives what might be the best acting performance of his career as a father trying to give his children a better life since the Earth is becoming uninhabitable and a new planet suitable for life must be found. For all it's big sci-fi ideas, Nolan still manages to keep everything grounded in real relationships and says something about humanity which is what separates the good sci-fi from the bad. It's one of his most emotional films to date as Nolan had a daughter around the time he made this movie and the father-daughter relationship is at the center of everything that happens here.
