Upcoming Marvel Studios Movies
Here are the films you'll get to see soon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
The third film in the Thor series looks to be the most unique and odd Marvel movie since Guardians of the Galaxy. The quirky sensibilities of the character will be brought to the forefront as he is given a makeover and put in his most desperate and awkward situation yet. They're combining comic book storylines here including Planet Hulk where Hulk becomes a gladiator on a distant world, and Ragnarok which is the Asgardian apocalypse. So, needless to say this one will have serious stakes, but still feature plenty of humor and action. It's gonna be a fun one for sure.
Cast & Crew: Directed by Taika Waititi, written by Eric Pearson, Christopher Yost, and Craig Kyle, starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Cate Blanchett, and Anthony Hopkins.
Release Date: November 3, 2017
The two trailers we've seen so far make this look like one of the coolest Marvel films to date. Black Panther's homeland of Wakanda is a whole new area of the MCU we haven't seen yet which makes it even more exciting. The cast is incredible as is the behind-the-scenes talent. It's got a specific look and feel already which sets it apart from everything else and gives it an edginess we haven't seen yet. He was introduced in a great way in Captain America: Civil War, so I'm looking forward to seeing more of the character in the future.
Cast & Crew: Directed by Ryan Coogler, written by Coogler and Joe Robert Cole, and starring Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira, Lupia Nyong'o, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whittaker, Martin Freeman, and Andy Serkis.

Avengers: Infinity War
This is what we've been waiting for ever since we saw that big purple guy stand up, turn around, and smile at the end of The Avengers in 2012. The purple alien in question is of course Thanos, a powerful tyrant who's been manipulating events from the shadows, collecting the Infinity Stones to take over the universe. Now he will come to Earth and bring destruction with him, but he'll first have to deal with the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy who will team up to stop him. This movie is huge and features virtually every character we've met in the MCU on screen together. Just watching Iron Man fight beside Star-Lord will be worth the price of admission.
Cast & Crew: Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, written by Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus, starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Cobie Smulders, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Paul Rudd, Chadwick Boseman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Tom Holland, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Jacob Batalon, Isabella Amara, Tom Hiddleston, Benicio Del Toro, Terry Notary, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, and Josh Brolin.

Ant-Man and the Wasp
The first Ant-Man movie was a surprise for most people. It's one of the funniest Marvel movies so far and has a lot of heart too. The shrinking effects were put to great use and he's since become a fan-favorite, especially his scenes in Captain America: Civil War. This film will see the rise of Evangeline Lily's character Hope Van Dyne as she becomes a superhero known as The Wasp. Taking up her mother's mantle will no doubt be difficult for her father Hank Pym portrayed y Michael Douglas, but this movie will also see the return of Janet Van Dyne as played by Michelle Pfeiffer after she was lost to the quantum realm years ago. You're not gonna wanna miss this.
Cast & Crew: Director Peyton Reed, written by Chris McKenna, Eric Sommers, Andrew Barrer, Gabriel Ferrari, Paul Rudd, starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lily, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Pena, David Dastmalchian, Tip "T.I." Harris, Bobby Canavale, Randall Park, Walton Goggins, Hannah John-Kamen, Judy Greer, and Laurence Fishburne.

A new hero will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Phase Three, and that's Captain Marvel as played by Brie Larson. In the comics, Carol Danvers is an Air Force pilot who's granted alien abilities and uses them to protect the galaxy. The character is cosmic, but has Earth-bound ties which makes her interesting. It'll be fun to see how they portray her in the film. She's rumored to have a small role in Infinity War which I'm sure the Guardians and Avengers would welcome since she's one of the most powerful characters in the universe and they'll need all the hep they can get in the fight against Thanos. Oddly, though, her stand-alone movie is set in the 1990s, will feature the return of Nick Fury, and the MCU debut of the shape-shifting alien species known as Skrulls.
Cast & Crew: Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Nicole Perlman, and Meg LeFauve, and starring Brie Larson.

Untitled Fourth Avengers Film
When it was originally announced, the third Avengers movie was going to be split into two parts. Since then however, Marvel Studios has abandoned that idea and said that the two are separate films, yet still connected as all MCU films are. Less is known about this movie, but it will deal with fallout from the events of Infinity War and feature at least some of the same characters and the same directors and writers are on board. It's filming now in Atlanta, and while the film has no title, it is rumored to be called Infinity Gauntlet.
Cast & Crew: Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, written by Stephen McFeely, and Christopher Markus, starring Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Cumberbatch, Evangeline Lily, Karen Gillan, Anthony Mackie, Tom Holland, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Paul Bettany, Scarlett Johansson, Jon Favreau, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sebastian Stan, Don Cheadle, Pom Klementieff, Paul Rudd, and Hiroyuki Sanada.

Untitled Spider-Man: Homecoming Sequel
Finally, Marvel's most popular character was able to come home this year with the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming. The film did very well with critics and audiences alike which means a sequel is already in the works. In fact, Marvel and Sony are planning a Spidey trilogy starring newcomer Tom Holland in the lead role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. He made a big entrance in Captain America: Civil War and he did a great job carrying the solo film as well. This fresh take on the character has him still in high school as he faces off against supervillains like The Vulture as well as regular problems like homework, school bullies, and girls. They seemed to set up Scorpion as the next villain, but the skies the limit with this new series.
Cast & Crew: Directed by Jon Watts, written by Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna, and starring Tom Holland, Jacob Batalon, Zendaya, and Marisa Tomei.
Release Date: July 5, 2019
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
Writer/director James Gunn has already told fans that he's hard at work on the third Guardians of the Galaxy film. The first and second films were huge successes, so this is no surprise. I'm sure he'll surprise us with the third movie as he did with the first two. This is said to be a conclusion to this trilogy which could also set up new adventures. I'm excited to find out where he takes these characters next. It's sure to be another fun space adventure.
Cast & Crew: Written and directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel.
Release Date: 2020
Untitled Marvel Mystery Movies
There are also two untitled Marvel movies set for release on August 7, 2020 and November 2, 2020. There have been no announcements or indicators of what these films could be. One is probably a sequel to either Doctor Strange or Black Panther. The other could be the recently rumored all-female team-up movie suggested to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige by actress Tessa Thompson who plays Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok. She asked Feige about the possibility on the set of Avengers: Infinity War as they were surrounded by the other actresses in the MCU. However, this could also be a brand new character who's getting his or her own solo movie. Only time will tell.
