Aquaman Casts Michael Beach As Black Manta's Father
DC Films' upcoming Aquaman movie continues to grow it's cast as the main villain's father has been cast!
Michael Beach Cast As Black Manta's Father
Actor Michael Beach is best known for his roles in many television series like Third Watch, Law & Order, and ER, as well as movies like Waiting to exhale, Soul Food, and more recently Patriot's Day. On Twitter, the actor confirmed that he will play Black Manta's father in the DCEU movie Aquaman. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will play his son in the film. In the comics, Black Manta's father was a mercenary who killed Aquaman's father Tom Curry, and was then killed by Aquaman in revenge. Now out for vengeance himself, his son takes on his father's mantle and makes it his mission in life to hunt down and kill Aquaman. It's a vicious cycle and one that is a major part of both character's journeys.
James Wan is directing DC Films' Aquaman which stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Prince Orm/Ocean Master, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta II, Michael Beach as Black Manta I, Ludi Lin as Murk, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Temura Morrison as Tom Curry, and Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna. The film is currently scheduled for release on December 21, 2018.
