Billy Dee Williams To Return For Star Wars: Episode IX
Lando Calrissian will make a comeback in the next Star Wars movie!
Lando Is Back In Star Wars: Episode IX!
Now, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that actor Billy Dee Williams will return as Lando Calrissian in the upcoming movie Star Wars: Episode IX. He's been rumored to come back to his most famous role ever since the sequel trilogy was announced back in 2012. However, he didn't appear in Episode VII or Episode VIII, so it seems like J.J. Abrams and company are keen on bringing him back before the new saga ends. He first played the character in Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back in 1980 and reprised the role in 1983's Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. Since then he's shown up at numerous fan events and red carpet premieres. Williams even voiced the character in a few episodes of Star Wars Rebels.
It's currently unknown what part Lando will play in the next film, but count on it being more of an administrative role. No one knows if he's involved in the New Republic or the Resistance. He may have gone back to his gambling ways since we last saw him on the forest moon on Endor. Donald Glover played the legendary role of Calrissian in this summer's Solo: A Star Wars Story, so the character is fresh on everyone's mind. It'll be fun to see how they incorporate him into the film especially since Han Solo, Luke Skywalker are dead and Carrie Fisher passed away before she could begin filming Episode IX. Star Wars: Episode IX will be in theaters in December of 2019.
