Charlie's Angels Reboot Cast Officially Announced
The new Charlie's Angels have been cast!
Check Out The Cast of the New Charlie's Angles Movie!
Back in2015 it was announced that actress/producer/director Elizabeth Banks would be casting a new Charlie's Angles film reboot. Finally we know who her angels are. Variety reports that the cast includes Kristen Stewart, Naomie Scott, and Ella Balinska. Banks herself will produce, direct, and star as the Angel's contact Bosley. The Girl in the Spider's Web writer Jay Basu co-wrote the film with Banks based on earlier drafts by Craig Mazin and Semi Chellas. This is Stewart's first foray into blockbuster movie territory since 2012's Snow White and the Huntsman as she went to star in indie films after she rocketed to stardom as Bella in the Twilight saga. Known for her recent role in Power Rangers, Scott will also play Princess Jasmine in Guy Ritchie's live-action Aladdin film. A relative unknown, Balinska has played many roles on TV and film in Great Britain. These three look great, but we'll have to wait and see if they can match the magic of Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu in McG's two movies from the early 2000s.
The original Charlie's Angels television series debuted in 1976 and ran until 1981. The show was created by Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts was produced by Aaron Spelling. Bakc then the angels were Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, and Jaclyn Smith. The plot followed three special operative going on crime-fighting missions for their mysterious benefactor Charlie Townsend. In the year 2000, a feature film was released directed by McG and starring Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu with Bill Murray as Bosley, and a sequel was produced in 2003 with the same cast returning. A TV series reboot was attempted in 2011 but was cancelled after only eight episodes. That series featured Minka Kelly, Rachel Taylor, and Annie Ilonzeh with Ramon Rodriguez and Bosley.
