Wonder Woman Sequel To Cast Cheetah As Main Villain!
A fan-favorite comic book villain might be coming to the big screen! That Hashtag Show is reporting that Warner Bros. has begun a casting search for the main villain in Wonder Woman 2. The villain in question is said to be Cheetah who's the Amazon warrior princess' main antagonist in the DC comic books. The studio was reportedly looking to cast Emma Stone in the role but she has already passed on the part. DC Comics' New 52 character Barbara Ann Minerva will be the version of Cheetah the film will use. Miss Minerva is a British anthropologist who gains her superpowers after stumbling upon an ancient ritual in the lost city of Urzkartaga.
The character of Cheetah a.k.a. Priscilla Rich first appeared in Wonder Woman #6 in 1943 created by Wonder Woman creator William Moulton Marston and H.G. Peter. Through the years, the villain's mantle has been taken up by other character's such as Deborah Domaine, Barbara Ann Minerva, and Sebastian Ballestraros. The untitled Wonder Woman sequel is rumored to be set during the 1980s at the time of the Cold War. The film will be directed by Patty Jenkins, returning from the original, and will be written by Jenkins, Geoff Johns, and David Callaham with Gal Gadot also returning as the title character. The movie is set for a theatrical release on November 1, 2019.
