Cowboy Ninja Viking Gets Official Release Date
The Chris Pratt action film gets scheduled!
Chris Pratt's Cowboy Ninja Viking Will Arrive In 2019
Universal Pictures has announced that their upcoming adaptation of the comic book Cowboy Ninja Viking has an official release date! The Image Comics-based movie, starring Chris Pratt, will arrive in theaters on Friday, June 28, 2019. That puts it head-to-head with Paramount’s Untitled Sixth Transformers Film. Pratt will play a new kind of assassin who manifests the toughest skills of three different personas: Cowboy, Ninja, and Viking. The hard-edged actioner laced with attitude is based on the graphic novel by AJ Lieberman and illustrator Riley Rossmo. There is no director officially attached yet, though expect word on that front soon. Universal had previously courted the 87eleven Action Design directing duo of David Leitch and Chad Stahelski of John Wick fame to helm to project, but the two have since gone their separate ways and are both working on other projects right now with Leitch on Deadpool 2 and Stahelski on John Wick 3. Quantum of Solace and World War Z‘s Marc Forster was also previously attached to direct. Pratt already has experience playing a cowboy in last year's The Magnificent Seven. However, he has yet to portray a ninja or a viking on screen.
The film version of Cowboy Ninja Viking features a screenplay from Zombieland and Deadpool scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, which was recently overhauled by Craig Mazin. Guymon Casady, Ben Forkner and Mark Gordon are attached to produce. An assassin develops the skills of cowboys, ninjas and vikings to become the ultimate warrior. The movies stars Chris Pratt and will arrive in theaters on June 28, 2019.
