Dazzler Confirmed For X-Men: Dark Phoenix; Will Taylor Swift Be Cast?
There's a new mutant joining the X-Men movies!
X-Men: Dark Phoenix Confirms Appearance Of Dazzler!
Looks like another new character is joining the X-Men franchise, and this time it's Dazzler. She first appeared in 1980’s Uncanny X-Men #130 which is the second issue of the “Dark Phoenix Saga” so it's fitting that she'll make her first big screen live-action appearance in the movie based on those comics. Entertainment Weekly reports that, “Dazzler will pop up but only in a small role and there is no plan at the moment to have Swift play her.” That's good news for fans of the Marvel mutant who can convert sound vibrations into light and energy beams, which makes for an exciting concert, but bad news for folks who wanted to see Taylor Swift take on the role. Swift was a fan-favorite casting choice after the sing/songwriter was seen with writer/producer Simon Kinberg, actor James McAvoy, and actress Sophie Turner. Granted, there’s still a possibility she’ll step in to play the part, but there’s no further information available at the time. The character had somewhat of a cameo in last year's Apocalypse, but the scene was cut from the final edit.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix is written and directed by Simon Kinberg and stars Sophie Turner, James McAvoy, Tye Sheridan, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Alexander Shipp, and Kodi Smit-McPhee, with Jessica Chastain in talks to play the film’s villain, Lilandra. When the cosmic Phoenix Force takes over the body of Jean Grey, her fellow X-Men must traverse the cosmos to stop her from destroying the universe at all costs. The movie is scheduled for release on November 2, 2018.
