DC Films' New Movie Slate Revealed; Flash & Batgirl Included
The next DC movies may have been revealed!
Which New DC Movies Are Coming Up Next?
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are actively developing The Flash and Batgirl, alongside Wonder Woman 2, as their next film projects. Their source says that, “Insiders say the next wave will likely include the Flash film and Batgirl, among others,” which naturally leads to speculation about what those “others” could be. Perhaps it’s Suicide Squad 2 which has director Gavin O'Conner now on board? Maybe it's The Joker origin movie starring Joaquin Phoenix? Or it could be Matt Reeves’ The Batman? There are plenty of possibilities, but if THR is willing to name Flash and Batgirl, then it stands to reason that these are the two that the studio is most bullish on. The Flash film just hired Spider-Man: Homecoming writers Jonathan Goldstein and John Frances Daley to direct, while Joss Whedon has been attached to write and direct Batgirl for over two years now.
We know the studio is already in post-production on Aquaman and that Shazam just started shooting, but with the mixed reviews for Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and the negative response to Suicide Squad and Justice League, it's going to be interesting to see where things go from here and if and when we'll get an official announcement about the studio's new plans. Not mentioned, but also reportedly in development, are Cyborg, Green Lantern Corps, Lobo, Justice League Dark, Deathstroke, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, The Joker and Harley Quinn, Gotham City Sirens, and Nightwing. Aquaman is in theaters on December 21 later this year and Shazam will arrive on April 5, 2019.
