Ewan McGregor Cast As Black Mask In DC's Birds of Prey

Birds of Prey Villain Black Mask To Be Played By Ewan McGregor!
According to recent reports from The Wrap, actor Ewan McGregor has been cast as Black Mask in the upcoming DC Comics adaptation Birds of Prey! Warner Bros was eyeing both McGregor and Sharlto Copely for the part of the villain in the upcoming film. Black Mask is a vicious criminal kingpin named Roman Sionis with a deranged fixation on masks. He was created by writer Doug Moench and Tom Mandrake debuting in Batman #386 in 1985. The character has appeared in The Batman and Batman: The Brave and the Bold animated series, the animated Batman: Under the Red Hood and Batman: Bad Blood movies, and the Batman: Arkham video games.
The cast also includes Margot Robbie, reprising her role as Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad, alongside newcomers Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress and Jurnee Smollet-Bell as Black Canary. Also joining the ensemble are Rosie Perez as Gotham City Police Department Detective Renee Montoya and Peyton Elizabeth Lee who will portray a young Cassandra Cain who becomes Batgirl in the comics. Birds of Prey is described as an R-rated, gritty crime drama by director Cathy Yan and screenwriter Christina Hodson. The film is expected to begin production on January 15, 2019 and is due in theaters on February 7, 2020.
