Warner Bros. has just announced an open casting call for five young actors to join the upcoming Fantastic Beasts sequel as Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald in their teen years at Hogwarts. They're specifically looking for 13 to 18-year-old actors in the roles which will also include a younger Newt Skamander and Leta Lestrange as well as a new character named Sebastian. Eddie Redmayne plays the adult magizoologist Newt in the original Fantastic Beasts, and Zoë Kravitz briefly appears in the first Fantastic Beasts as the mysterious Leta. Meanwhile, Johnny Depp already made his debut as the villainous adult Grindelwald, and Jude Law has since joined the cast of the sequel as the younger adult Dumbledore. Richard Harris originated the role of Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter films, with Michael Gambon playing the Hogwarts headmaster in subsequent films after Harris’ untimely death. J.K. Rowling’s original Potter series revealed that Dumbledore and Grindelwald were close friends in their teenage years before they had a falling-out. Grindelwald went on to become one of the most notorious dark wizards of all time, and the first Fantastic Beasts film explored how he started to rise to power in the 1920s.

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them was directed by David Yates, written by J.K. Rowling, and starred Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton, Ron Perlman, Carmen Ejogo, Jon Voight, and Colin Farrell. When a young wizard brings magical creatures to New York City in the 1920s, they soon escape, and he must enlist help to bring them back in order to keep the animals, and everyone else in the city, safe from harm. Currently untitled, the sequel is due in theaters on November 16, 2018. The first movie is now available on Blu-ray along with all of the other Harry Potter films.
