The image is a striking one. King T'Challa seated on his throne while donning armor of the Black Panther. It tells us the story of this character. He's now both a warrior and a king and must act accordingly. The introduction to the character in Marvel's Captain America: Civil War was excellent and now we get to dive deep into his continuing journey as he takes his father's place as leader of the technologically-advanced African nation of Wakanda. We're sure to get some backstory as well, but I'm glad they're moving the character forward and not going with a traditional origin story. Chadwick Boseman is great in the lead role, and with Creed director Ryan Coogler at the helm it's sure to be a solid story with interesting characters and some amazing action.
Marvel's Black Panther is directed by Ryan Coogler, written by Coogler and Joe Robert Cole, and stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupitia Nyon'o, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Sterling K. Brown, Martin Freeman, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis. After the death of his father, Prince T'Challa returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to succeed the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and warrior the Black Panther —is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of the nation and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life. The film is set for release on February 14, 2018.
