The upcoming superhero film starring Channing Tatum has a release date!
X-Men Spin-Off Film Set For Valentine's Day Release!
Fox has announced that February 14, 2019 is the release date for their upcoming X-Men spin-off film Gambit. The movie is set to star Channing Tatum as the titular mutant, and now the film has Gore Verbinski on board as director. Verbinski previously helmed such films as the The Ring, Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, Rango, The Lone Ranger, and A Cure for Wellness. The studio has had great success with the X-Men series as of late by taking lots of risks and allowing filmmakers to develop their own unique movies such as Deadpool, Logan, and the upcoming The New Mutants which just dropped a trailer today. Each of those films mixes the typical superhero story with a particular movie genre which is what Gambit will do as well. Deadpool is an action/comedy, Logan is a dystopian-neo-western, and The New Mutants is a psychological horror movie, but Gambit will be a heist film as he is a master thief.
Gambit is directed by Gore Verbinski, written by Joshua Zetumer from a story by Chris Claremont, and stars Channing Tatum as Remy Lebeau a.k.a. Gambit, Lea Seydoux as Bella Donna Boudreaux, and Daniel Craig is in talks to play the villain Mr. Sinister. Remy Lebeau a.k.a. Gambit is the superstar of the Thieves Guild when he encounters Bella Donna Boudreaux, but their relationship is strictly prohibited as her family belongs to the rival Assassin's Guild. Deciding to unite the two sides, Remy offers to have the two clans team up on a heist which will profit both families, but when his mysterious employer is revealed to be the dangerous Nathaniel Essex a.k.a. Mr. Sinister, Gambit decides to enlist a crew of mutants to pull off this seemingly impossible heist. The film will be released into theaters on February 14, 2018.
