Jeremy Renner Injured In Avengers: Infinity War Stunt
The Hawkeye actor suffers some injuries while performing stunts for Marvel's next Avengers movie!
Hawkeye Actor Gets Seriously Injured On Avengers Set!
Well, it looks like Hawkeye will be getting in on some serious action in the next Avengers film. While performing a stunt for the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, actor Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe suffered major injuries by breaking both his right elbow and his left wrist on the set of the Marvel Studios production. Talking to Variety at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival to promote his new movie Wind River, Renner said of the braces on his arms, “That’s how it goes. It’s part of the job.” While this will likely prohibit any further arrow shooting by the actor for the time being, he’s already moved on to shooting the less-physically-demanding comedy Tag opposite Ed Helms s he said, “I’m doing a job that isn’t really requiring a ton of stunts: It’s not an action movie, it’s a comedy — it just happens to have a few stunts in it. So I don’t have to beat a whole lot of people up or do anything crazy. So it won’t really affect my job… It affects how I get dressed in the morning. I can’t tie my shoes, but outside of that and everything else I can kind of get by.”
This isn’t the first big on-set injury on a Marvel Studios film, as Robert Downey Jr. broke his ankle during filming of Iron Man 3, which necessitated a break in filming. With so many moving parts to Infinity War, we doubt filmmakers were able to halt production just for Renner, though he can likely be part of a reshoot down the line once his arrow slingers are out of their sling. Hawkeye first appeared in a cameo role in 2011's Thor before going on to star in The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Captain America: Civil War. Th character was created by in Stan Lee and Don Heck in Tales of Suspense #57 in September 1964 and joined Earth's Mightiest Heroes in The Avengers #16 in 1965.
Avengers: Infinity War is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scalett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olson, Chadwick Boseman, Sebastian Stan, Don Cheadle, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Pom Klementieff, Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Sean Gunn, Tom Holland, Jeremy Renner, Josh Brolin, and Paul Rudd. As the Avengers face a cosmic threat unlike any other, they must team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy to take on the intergalactic tyrant Thanos as he wields unimaginable power and seeks to destroy the universe. Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War is slated for a release in theaters on May 4, 2018. Then, the Avengers assemble again for the still-untitled fourth film, set for May 3, 2019.
