Karl Urban Talks Status Of Star Trek 4
The actor speaks on the upcoming movie in the Trek series!
Is Star Trek 4 Going To Happen? Karl Urban Answers!
In a recent interview while promoting Thor: Ragnarok, actor Karl Urban was asked about the status of the fourth Star Trek film in the new series. The first three movies were major box office and critical successes, so the studio definitely wants to make another movie in the franchise, it's just a matter of when. Talking to Screen Rant, Urban said, "Yeah, look, I don’t know. I haven’t heard anything. Obviously, I would love the opportunity to make another Star Trek film. We always have so much fun when we get together. That cast is… they’re like family. That being said, if Star Trek Beyond was the last one we got to make, then I’m proud of the film and I’m happy to end it there."
Just before the release of Star Trek Beyond, J.J. Abrams confirmed that the fourth film will bring back the new cast and feature Captain James T. Kirk meeting his father George Kirk as played by none other than Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth. If you remember, in the 2009 film, Hemsworth played the elder Kirk in the opening scenes of the movie back when he was a just a young actor in his first American film. Since then he's become one of the world's biggest movie stars in films like The Avengers, Snow White & The Huntsman, and In the Heart of the Sea. How the character will come back is a mystery at this point, but it's sure to be an epic confrontation between the father and his son. No word yet on who will direct the movie, but Abrams and Lindsey Weber are on board as producers with J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay penning the script. There is not an official release date yet, but I'm sure we'll get an announcement soon. See the interview with J.J. Abrams below.
