Robin Hood Debuts New Images!
Taron Egerton is the latest actor to portray the popular legendary outlaw hero of England. These new images feature Egerton as the titular character and other feature the actor with Jamie Foxx who's playing Little John in the film. Also, we get our first look at Ben Mendelsohn as the villainous Sheriff of Mottingham. This version of the tale has a young Robin returning for the Crusades as more of a revolutionary leader.
Peaky Blinders director Otto Bathurst is helming the film of which he says, “You don’t become a legend for 800 years if you’ve just stolen a few bags of money from rich people to give to the poor. In my mind, Robin Hood was this sort of seriously militarized anarchist revolutionary, a freedom thinker and a truth seeker. And the more I got into the story, it just became startling how utterly relevant it is to what’s going on in society now.”
Producer Basil Iwaynk says, “I feel that it captures the adventure and the fun and the spirit of Robin Hood, but because it’s the origin story—it’s a kid going off to war thinking he’s going on a great Crusade, and realizing it’s all bullshit and coming back with some PTSD and realizing he’s been lied to, and coming back to kind of a fractured society that doesn’t really accept him and realizing, ‘Okay the super rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer.’ You could describe that now.”
The film is directed by Otto Bathurst, written by Joby Harold, Peter Craig, and Tory Tunnell and stars Taron egerton, Jamie Foxx, Ben Mendelsohn, Eve Hewson, Jamie Dornan, and Paul Anderson. Retunin from the Crusades Robin Hood finds his home is being ransacked by the tyrannical Sheriff of Nottingham and decides to lead an uprising to usurp his power and restore freedom to England. The movie will be released into theaters on September 21, 2018.
