Recently, while prepping to start shooting the next X-Men movie in Montreal, director Simon Kinberg and his cast met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. You’ll spy plenty of familiar faces from the X-Men movies cast in the new photo alongside the politician. For a bit there after Apocalypse it seemed like the X-verse might have to say goodbye to the lineup of leads introduced in First Class, but Dark Phoenix will reportedly reunite most of the key players, including Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, James McAvoy as Professor X, Nicholas Hoult as Beast. Also, the new cast from Apocalypse will return including Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler. The most noticeable absentee is Evan Peters‘ Quicksilver, the Apocalypse and Days of Future Past standout who has not been confirmed to return. However, the film will bring in a new villain in Lilandra, the alien Empress of the Shi’ar, who comes into conflict with the X-Men when she leads the quest to imprison and execute Dark Phoenix.
