Rambo 5 Poster Reveals Title & Release Date
Stallone takes to social media to release new Rambo poster!
New Poster Reveals Rambo V Arrives Fall 2019!
Yesterday it was announced that a fifth Rambo film is being made. Today, Sylvester Stallone himself took to Instagram to release the first poster for the film. On the poster (see below) we also get the official title and release date for the film. The title will be Rambo V and the movie will hit theaters in the fall of 2019. That means production will begin very soon, presumably after Stallone wraps production on Creed II. We do not know who will direct the film, although it's likely that Sly could find himself back in the director's chair. He helmed the latest installment of the franchise, simply titled Rambo, back in 2008. He's also directed multiple films in the Rocky series including Rocky II, Rocky III, Rocky IV, and Rocky Balboa, as well as the first Expendables movie.
The Rambo film franchise began with Ted Kotcheff's First Blood back in 1982 based on the book of the same name by David Morrell. Three sequels were made including George P. Cosmatos' Rambo: First Blood-Part II in 1985, Peter MacDonald's Rambo III in 1988, and Stallone's own Rambo in 2008. The series has grossed over $727 million at the global box office, so far. Rambo V is rumored to find Vietnam war veteran John J. Rambo working on a ranch when his best friend's daughter is kidnapped, forcing Rambo comes out of retirement to go on his most personal and deadly rescue mission yet as he finds himself going up against one of Mexico's most violent drug cartels. No further casting announcements have been made. Stallone is currently rewriting the script and will likely direct as well. Filming begins in September and will take place in London, Bulgaria, and the Canary Islands. The film will be in theaters in the fall of 2019.
