Spider-Man Spin-Off Silver & Black Gets New Writers
The upcoming female-centric Spider-Man spin-off gets new writers!
Silver & Black Has New Writers!
Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet are set to pen the most recent draft of the script for Silver & Black. The film is a standalone movie centered on Marvel Comics’ war criminal-hunting mercenary, Silver Sable, and the Robin Hood-style burglar for the people, Black Cat. The Secret Life of Bees and Beyond the Lights writer-director Gina Prince-Bythewood will direct Silver & Black, and first dipped her toe in the Marvel waters when she directed the Cloak & Dagger pilot for Freeform. She also penned a previous draft of the script for Silver & Black. Indeed, the Silver & Black script has had all kinds of talented writers take a pass — Thor: Ragnarok scribe Chris Yost and Westworld co-creator Lisa Joy both worked on previous drafts of the script. Robertson-Dworet worked on Captain Marvel and Tomb Raider, while Beer worked on Doug Liman‘s upcoming dystopian sci-fi film Chaos Walking as well as Sony’s upcoming Barbie movie, and has been a part of a number of studio writers rooms, including Transformers, Godzilla vs. Kong, and Quentin Tarantino‘s Star Trek. Both screenwriters have become go-to writers for studio genre fare in recent years.
As Sony expands their own corner of the Marvel universe, a crossover between the Spider-Man characters and the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe with the Avengers is entirely possible. In fact it's been reported by some that Tom Holland himself will appear in the upcoming Venom movie as Peter Parker. Whether or not this will happen with Silver & Black remains to be seen, but it'd be fun for fans to see another darker side of the MCU much like what we've seen on the Netflix series Daredevil, Jessica Jones, ect. on the big screen with these Spidey characters. Venom is out on October 5, 2018 and Silver & Black arrives in theaters on Feb 8, 2019.
