Deadline reports that the first cast member for the live-action Teen Titans series has been found! Australian newcomer Teagan Croft is set to play Raven in the upcoming DC Comics-based show. Simply titled Titans, the series will debut on Warner Bros. and DC Comics' own digital subscription streaming service in 2018. The daughter of the demon Trigon, Raven is a powerful psychic primarily using psychic empathy, either absorbing emotions or pain of others and even healing them. Raven is also capable of telekinesis, teleportation, and astral projection. She was created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, first appearing in DC Comics Presents #26 in October of 1980. No other cast members have been revealed yet, but expect more announcements soon. They still have to find actors and actresses to play Nightwing, Starfire, and any other characters who may make cameos or have guest starring roles.
Titans follows a group of young soon-to-be Super Heroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In this action-packed series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes, including Starfire, Raven and many others. Titans is a dramatic, live-action adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book teams ever. Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, and Greg Berlanti will write the pilot episode, and serve as producers with Sara Schechter. Raven has also appeared in the animated Teen Ttians TV series voiced by Tara Strong for five seasons and recently was a main character in two DC Animated Original Movies including Justice League vs Teen Titans and Teen Titans: The Judas Contract in which Taissa Farmiga voiced the character. Titans is in development at Warner Bros.’ own digital subscription service, which is set to launch in 2018 with the live-action series along with the long-awaited third season of the animated Young Justice show.
