The Batman Gets Release Date; Ben Affleck Will Not Play Title Role
New Batman movie has release date, but Ben Affleck will not return as The Dark Knight!
Batman Sets 2021 Theatrical Release Without Ben Affleck As Titular Hero!
Deadline reports that Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment have set their next Batman movie titled The Batman for a June 25, 2021 release date! They also confirm that Ben Affleck will not return as The Caped Crusader in this new movie. Affleck was cast by Zack Snyder in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice an reprised the role in both Suicide Squad and 2017's Justice League. Initially, Affleck was going to write, produce, direct, and star in a stand alone Batman film before dropping out of the director's chair which was taken over by Cloverfield, and Dawn and War for the Planet of the Apes helmer Matt Reeves.
Now it seems as though Affleck will not put back on the cape and cowl for this new film which is said to be a noir-driven detective story featuring a slew of Batman's infamous foes. It sounds like Reeves' vision is a perfect fit for the World's Greatest Detective. Now we just need to find out who's getting cast as the new Dark Knight? There have been plenty of rumors as to who that might be lately including Armie Hammer (who was set to play Bats in George Miller's cancelled Justice League: Mortal), Jake Gyllenhaal, Jon Hamm, Ryan Gosling, Scott Eastwood, John Krasinski, and Oscar Isaac. The Batman will hit theaters on June 25, 2021.
