Army of the Dead Movie Coming From Zack Sndyer For Netflix!
Director Zack Snyder has his next project lined up at Netflix! The new film is titled Army of the Dead which takes place during a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas and centers on a man who “assembles a group of mercenaries to take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantined zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.” Snyder’s first foray into the zombie genre was his directorial debut, 2004's remake of George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead which was written by James Gunn. The new film is written by Edge of Tomorrow producer and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword scribe Joby Harold.
Talking about the project and his partnership with Netflix Snyder said, “I love to honor canon and the works of art. But this is the opportunity to find a purely joyful way to express myself though a genre. It will be the most kick-ass, self-aware — but not in a wink-to-the-camera way — balls-to-the-wall zombie freakshow that anyone has ever seen. No one’s ever let me completely loose [like this].” Snyder has been a the helm of such films as 300, Watchmen, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole, Sucker Punch, Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and was credited with directing Justice League, although that films went through extensive reshoots overseen by Joss Whedon. Army of the Dead has no release date but is expected to begin filming later this year for it's streaming debut sometime in 2020.
