Netflix has released the first look at their upcoming reboot of Lost In Space. The Robinson family, part of a highly trained mission to establish a new colony in space, is unexpectedly pulled off course forcing them to crash land on a lost planet. This Lost in Space reboot trailer is a teaser, simply giving folks a heads up of the show’s existence and overall tone. It does a solid job of teasing the reboot, and I’m curious to see how the show holds up as a whole. Lost in Space is very much an adventure story created by Irwin Allen in 1965 and ran until 1968 with a movie version made in 1998.

The new series is from Dracula Untold screenwriting duo Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless with Prison Break and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland alum Zack Estrin serving as showrunner. This new Lost in Space is described as a “dramatic and modern reimagining” of the classic 1960s sci-fi series. The story takes place 30 years in the future, when space colonization is now a reality, and revolves around the Robinson family as they become one of a few selected to go and create a better world on a new planet. But during their venture, the Robinsons find themselves thrown off course and struggling to find the way towards their new home. The show stars Toby Stephens, Molly Parker, Ignacio Serricchio, Taylor Russell, Mina Sundwall, Maxwell Jenkins, Parker Posey, and Raza Jaffrey. All 10 episodes of the first season debut on Netflix on April 13th.
