Thandie Newton Speaks Out On The Han Solo Film!
In an Actors on Actors interview with Oprah Winfrey in Variety Studios, actress Thandie Newton spoke about the upcoming Star Wars spin-off film featuring Han Solo. She talked about how she was cast and the overall film-making experience. The 44-year-old English actress has starred in many popular films including Mission: Impossible 2, Crash, The Pursuit of Happyness, and others. She recently had a starring role on HBO's Westworld based on the 1973 science-fiction film by Jurassic Park author Michael Crichton. It's unknown who she'll play in the Han Solo movie, but confirmed cast includes Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Joonas Suatamo taking over Peter Meyhew's role as Chewy, Donald Glover in the role that made Billy Dee Williams famous as Lando Calrissian, and Woody Harrelson as Han's criminal mentor Beckett.
The Untitled Han Solo Movie is directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, written by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, and stars Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Joonas Suotamo, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Michael K. Williams, Ian Kenny, Thandie Newton, and Woody Harrelson. The story follows Han between the ages of 18 and 24 as he meets and befriends the mighty wookie Chewbacca, wins the Millennium Falconon a gamble from Lando Calrissian, and becomes one of the most notorious smugglers in the entire galaxy. The film is set to be released into theaters on May 25, 2018.
